Supports hydration during prolonged or strenuous exercise
Provides carbohydrate energy while you train or compete
Helps replace sodium and other electrolytes lost through sweat

During longer or more demanding exercise, the body loses water and electrolytes through sweat while also using stored carbohydrate for energy.

Plain water can replace fluid, but it does not provide meaningful carbohydrate energy or replace the electrolytes found in sweat. O2B Sports Fuel Max is designed for longer sessions where both hydration and energy delivery matter.

The formula combines three carbohydrate sources:

  • Glucose is a simple carbohydrate that can be used readily by the body.
  • Sucrose provides glucose and fructose once digested.
  • Maltodextrin provides additional carbohydrate while helping deliver substantial energy without relying entirely on simple sugars.

The electrolyte blend includes:

  • Sodium, which is the principal electrolyte lost through sweat and helps support fluid balance.
  • Potassium, which contributes to normal muscle and nerve function.
  • Calcium, which is involved in normal muscle contraction and cellular signalling.
  • Magnesium, which supports normal muscle, nerve and energy-metabolism processes.

Vitamin C provides additional antioxidant and nutritional support.

What is O2B Sports Fuel Max?

O2B Sports Fuel Max is a carbohydrate and electrolyte sports-drink powder.

When mixed as directed, it is designed to support hydration and energy delivery during prolonged or strenuous exercise.

What does “isotonic” mean?

An isotonic drink has a concentration of dissolved particles designed to be similar to that of body fluids.

This balance is intended to support the delivery of both fluid and carbohydrate during exercise. The concentration depends on preparing the product with the correct powder-to-water ratio.

How much powder should I use?

Mix 60g of powder into 750ml of water.

How much should I drink per hour?

One prepared 750ml serving per workout hour.

Individual requirements vary according to body size, temperature, exercise intensity, sweat rate and access to other food and fluids. Athletes with a detailed training or competition plan should follow their personalised guidance.

Do I need to drink the full bottle at once?

No.

Drink it progressively throughout the exercise period rather than consuming the full 750ml immediately.

What happens if I use less than 750ml of water?

The drink becomes more concentrated.

That changes its intended carbohydrate and electrolyte concentration and may make it taste overly sweet or feel less comfortable during exercise.

Can I dilute it with more water?

You can, but doing so reduces the carbohydrate and electrolyte concentration in each mouthful.

For its intended isotonic preparation, use 60g in 750ml of water.

How much carbohydrate is in one serving?

One prepared serving provides 57g of carbohydrate.

How much sugar does it contain?

One prepared serving contains 41g of sugars.

The sugars are included to provide usable carbohydrate energy during prolonged exercise rather than simply to sweeten an everyday drink.

Why does a sports drink contain sugar?

During prolonged or intense exercise, carbohydrate can help maintain energy availability as the body uses its stored glycogen.

Sports Fuel Max is intended for situations where the carbohydrate is being used as exercise fuel.

Is this a low-sugar electrolyte drink?

No.

Sports Fuel Max is a carbohydrate-containing endurance drink. Customers wanting electrolytes without significant carbohydrate should choose a product designed specifically for that purpose.

Why is sodium important during exercise?

Sodium is a major electrolyte found in sweat.

Replacing some sodium during prolonged exercise supports fluid balance, particularly when sweating is substantial.

Does Sports Fuel Max prevent muscle cramps?

No sports drink can guarantee that cramps will not occur.

Cramping can be influenced by fatigue, training load, pacing, heat, hydration, electrolyte losses and individual factors. Sports Fuel Max provides fluid and electrolytes but should not be marketed as a guaranteed cramp preventative.

Does it support recovery?

Replacing fluid and carbohydrate after or during a demanding session can contribute to the broader recovery process.

Sports Fuel Max does not provide meaningful protein, so it should not replace a balanced recovery meal or protein-containing recovery product when those are needed.

Is it a protein drink?

No.

Sports Fuel Max is primarily a carbohydrate and electrolyte drink. It is designed for hydration and energy delivery rather than muscle-protein recovery.

When should I use it?

It may be most useful during:

  • Endurance exercise lasting around an hour or longer
  • Long cycling or running sessions
  • Extended team-sport training
  • Tournaments with repeated games
  • Strenuous exercise in warm conditions
  • Events where eating solid food is difficult
  • Sessions where both hydration and carbohydrate intake are required

Do I need it for a short workout?

Probably not in many cases.

For light or moderate activity lasting less than an hour, water and normal meals may be enough unless conditions, intensity or individual needs indicate otherwise.

Can I use it before exercise?

It is primarily designed for consumption during exercise.

A portion may fit into a broader pre-event nutrition plan, but the full 60g serving is formulated around drinking 750ml progressively during a workout hour.

Can I drink it after exercise?

Yes, particularly if you still need to replace fluid and carbohydrate.

Recovery should also include appropriate food, protein, rest and enough total fluid.

Is it suitable for running?

Yes. It may suit long-distance, trail and endurance running when carbohydrate and fluid are needed during the session.

Test it in training before using it in an important event.

Is it suitable for cycling?

Yes. The 750ml preparation fits naturally into many cycling hydration routines and may suit road cycling, mountain biking and longer indoor sessions.

Is it suitable for team sports?

It may suit long practices, matches and tournament days where players need fluid, electrolytes and carbohydrate between periods of activity.

Can I use it during hiking or tramping?

It may be useful during long, physically demanding outings.

Remember that carrying enough water and appropriate food remains important. The powder should not replace a complete plan for remote or extended trips.

Can children use Sports Fuel Max?

People under 15 should use it with adult supervision.

It should be reserved for suitable exercise situations rather than used as an everyday drink.

Is it suitable for people with diabetes?

Each serving provides 57g of carbohydrate, including 41g of sugars.

People with diabetes or another blood-glucose condition should consult their healthcare professional before use and incorporate it into an appropriate exercise and medication plan.

Does it contain caffeine?

No caffeine ingredient are present.

Does it contain vitamin C?

Yes. Each prepared serving provides 90mg of vitamin C.

Can I combine it with energy gels?

Possibly, but remember to count the carbohydrate supplied by every product.

Using Sports Fuel Max alongside gels, chews or food may result in a high total carbohydrate intake. Test combinations during training and adjust them to your tolerance and event plan.

Can drinking too much be harmful?

Yes.

Both under-drinking and excessive fluid intake can create problems. Needs vary, so avoid forcing large volumes beyond thirst and your established hydration plan.

How long will a 500g pouch last?

Each full serving uses 60g of powder.

The exact number of servings will depend on measurement accuracy and whether every serving uses the full directed amount.

How should I store the powder?

Keep the pouch tightly sealed in a cool, dry place away from heat, moisture and direct sunlight.

Use a clean, dry scoop or utensil and follow the storage directions on the current packaging.

Suggested Dose:

Add 60gm of O2B Sports Fuel Max powder to 750ml of water per workout hour to replace body fluids and maximise energy intake.

Who is O2B Sports Fuel Max for?

There is a point during a long ride, run or match when plain water no longer feels like enough.

Your legs may begin to feel heavy, concentration can slip and the pace that felt comfortable earlier becomes harder to maintain. You may still have another hour to go, but eating solid food while moving feels inconvenient or difficult.

O2B Sports Fuel Max may suit:

  • Distance runners and trail runners
  • Road cyclists and mountain bikers
  • Triathletes and multisport competitors
  • People completing long gym or conditioning sessions
  • Team-sport athletes training or competing for extended periods
  • People taking part in tournaments with repeated games
  • Hikers and endurance-event participants

Great tasting and perfect levels of electrolytes

I have used this in many different endurance events (Running, Cycling, Swimming, etc). Latest in the NZ Xterra off-road triathlon. Found it to be easy drinking (not too sickly sweet) and gave me the hydration and energy levels I was looking for.* Bang on O2B.
