Hempseed oil is pressed from the seeds of the hemp plant and is valued for its naturally varied fatty-acid profile.

Unlike a single isolated omega supplement, hempseed oil contains several families of unsaturated fats.

Omega-3

The omega-3 in hempseed oil is primarily alpha-linolenic acid, or ALA. ALA is an essential fatty acid, meaning the body cannot produce enough of it and must obtain it from food.

ALA contributes to normal cell structure and broader cardiovascular and nutritional wellbeing. It is a plant-based omega-3, but it is not the same as the EPA and DHA found in fish or algae oils.

Omega-6

The primary omega-6 fatty acid in hempseed oil is linoleic acid. Omega-6 fats are essential components of normal cell membranes and cellular-signalling pathways.

Hempseed oil may also naturally contain small amounts of gamma-linolenic acid, or GLA, which is commonly associated with skin and hormonal-wellbeing formulas.

Omega-9

Omega-9 is a monounsaturated fat that contributes to the oil’s broader unsaturated-fat profile. Unlike omega-3 and omega-6, it is not classified as essential because the body can produce it.

Vitamin E

Hempseed oil naturally contains traces of vitamin E. Vitamin E acts as an antioxidant and helps protect cells from oxidative stress.

Natural oils can vary slightly between harvests, so these percentages should be treated as the product’s typical profile rather than guaranteed ratios.

What is O2B Hempseed Oil?

O2B Hempseed Oil is a soft-gel supplement containing premium, extra-virgin cold-pressed oil from New Zealand-grown hempseeds.

Each soft gel provides 1,000mg of hempseed oil.

What is in each soft gel?

Each soft gel contains:

New Zealand-grown extra-virgin cold-pressed hempseed oil — 1,000mg.

The complete capsule-shell and processing-aid information should be checked on the current packaging.

How many soft gels should I take?

Take two to six soft gels daily, or follow the advice of your healthcare practitioner.

Should I take them with food?

Yes. Taking oil-based supplements with a meal may improve digestive comfort and makes them easy to include in a consistent routine.

How long does one bottle last?

A bottle contains 160 soft gels:

  • Two daily last approximately 80 days
  • Four daily last approximately 40 days
  • Six daily last approximately 26 days

What is the omega-6 to omega-3 ratio?

It is suggested that we aim to achieve an approximate 3:1 ratio of omega-6 to omega-3.

Why does the omega ratio matter?

Omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids are both essential and form part of normal cellular structure and signalling.

The quality of a person’s whole diet matters more than trying to achieve one exact ratio from a single supplement.

Is omega-6 unhealthy?

No.

Linoleic acid is an essential omega-6 fatty acid required for normal cellular function. Problems cannot be attributed simply to the presence of omega-6 without considering the complete diet and the sources of fat.

What type of omega-3 does hempseed oil contain?

Hempseed oil primarily contains alpha-linolenic acid, or ALA.

ALA is a plant-based essential omega-3 fatty acid.

What is GLA?

GLA stands for gamma-linolenic acid.

It is a type of omega-6 fatty acid used within normal cellular-signalling pathways. Hempseed oil may naturally contain a small amount.

Does hempseed oil support healthy skin?

Essential fatty acids contribute to normal cell-membrane structure and may support skin moisture, integrity and general comfort.

Persistent dryness, rashes or other skin concerns should be professionally assessed.

Can it support hair and nails?

Healthy fats contribute to general skin and cellular nutrition, which may form part of a broader hair-and-nail routine.

Changes to hair and nails can also relate to iron status, thyroid function, stress, illness and total dietary intake.

Does it support joint mobility?

Hempseed oil supports normal joint function and mobility as part of general wellbeing.

It does not treat arthritis or repair an injured joint.

Does hempseed oil support cholesterol balance?

Unsaturated fats can form part of a heart-conscious dietary pattern.

Hempseed oil does not replace prescribed cholesterol treatment, appropriate food choices or cardiovascular monitoring.

Does it support circulation?

Essential fatty acids contribute to normal cell and cardiovascular function.

Does it support brain health?

Fatty acids are important components of cell membranes, including those in the nervous system.

Hempseed oil provides ALA rather than DHA and is not equivalent to a direct DHA supplement.

Does hempseed oil support hormones?

Fatty acids are involved in normal cellular-signalling processes, and supports healthy hormone levels.

Is hempseed oil the same as CBD oil?

No.

Hempseed oil is pressed from hemp seeds and is used primarily for its nutritional fatty-acid profile. CBD products are produced from other parts of the plant and contain specified cannabinoid extracts.

Will hempseed oil make me feel “high”?

Hempseed oil is a nutritional seed oil rather than an intoxicating cannabis product.

Is it the same as medicinal cannabis?

No.

It is a food-based oil supplement.

Can I take it instead of fish oil?

Hempseed oil provides plant-based ALA, while fish oil generally supplies EPA and DHA directly.

The better choice depends on the fatty acids you are seeking, your diet and your health needs.

Can I take it with fish oil?

Yes. The two products provide different fatty-acid profiles. Review your complete supplement routine with a healthcare professional when taking medication or using large servings of several oils.

What is the difference between hempseed oil and flaxseed oil?

Both are plant-derived sources of ALA.

Hempseed oil provides a broader mix of omega-3, omega-6 and omega-9, including a small natural amount of GLA.

Flaxseed oil generally contains a higher proportion of ALA and is available as a liquid functional food.

What is the difference between hempseed oil and evening primrose oil?

Hempseed oil provides omega-3, omega-6 and omega-9 fatty acids.

Evening primrose oil is used mainly as a concentrated source of GLA and provides a declared 100mg of GLA per O2B soft gel.

Can I take hempseed oil every day?

Yes. It is designed for daily use.

Review ongoing use with a healthcare professional when taking prescription medication or managing a medical condition.

Can hempseed oil cause side effects?

Some people may experience:

  • Nausea
  • Digestive discomfort
  • Loose bowel movements
  • An unpleasant aftertaste
  • An allergic or sensitivity reaction

Beginning with the lowest directed serving may help assess digestive tolerance.

Can I open the soft gels?

They may contain liquid oil, so opening them can be messy and exposes the oil to air.

People wanting hempseed oil as a food may prefer a dedicated bottled product.

How should I store it?

Keep the bottle tightly closed in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, heat and moisture.

Keep it out of reach of children and follow any additional storage directions on the current packaging.

Suggested Dose:

Take 2-6 capsules daily or as directed by your health care practitioner.
